Region 9 FEI Young Riders




Below you can read a bit about each of the Region 9 Advanced Young Riders hoping to make the team for the 2004 North American Young Riders' Championships.


Chelsea Braman

Birthday: August 6, 1986

Location: Texas

Horse: Let it Be, a recently imported 16h Dutch Warmblood gelding

Accomplishments:
Chelsea qualified for and competed at the 2002 NAYRC on Wenzano after riding the 16 year old Hanoverian gelding for only 5 months.

Chelsea and her recently sold Morgan/Freisan cross, Bouwe's Shadow, were SWDC Junior champions at Training level and First level in 2001, Second level in 2002, and Third level in 2003. And the pair also won ABIC/USDF Second level Champion in 2002 and GIAG/USDF Third level Reserve Champion in 2003.  Shadow is now enjoying his new home with Junior rider, Bryce Menzies. 

With her young Freisan gelding, Rykle, also recently sold, Chelsea claimed the title of 2003 Training Level GAIG/USDF Champion.

Chelsea is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist and has earned her German Bronze Medal, required for competing in Germany.

2004 Goals: Chelsea and Let it Be hope to qualify for and attend the 2004 NAYRC.


Amanda Garrett

Birthday: November 17, 1985

Location: Texas

Trainer: Lyndon Rife

Horse: Great Experience, a black Hanoverian gelding

Breeding: (Grunstien II x Inschalla Mare)

Accomplishments: With Great Experience, Amanda has earned her USDF Silver Medal.  In 2002, Amanda and "G" competed at the prestigious Coup de Ameriques in Canada and earned the Team Silver Medal at the FEI Junior level.

In 2003, Amanda and "G" were the GAIG/USDF and SWDC Reserve Champions at Prix St. Georges Jr/YR.

2004 Goals: Qualify for and attend the 2004 NAYRC with Great Experience.


Andreanna Stucker

Birthday: July 30, 1986

Location: Texas

Trainer: Donna Wright

Horse: Poetry in Motion, an 11 year old, 16.2 hand bay Hanoverian Gelding

Breeding: (Traunstein x Depesche x Don Juan)

Accomplishments: In 2002, Andy and Poet were the SWDC Third Level Jr/YR Champions and 2002 USDF/ABIC Third Level Jr/YR Champions.

In 2003, Andy and Poet were the SWDC and GAIG/USDF Fourth Level Jr/YR Champions and the GAIG/USDF Prix St. Georges Jr/YR Champions.

Andy is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist and has earned her German Bronze Medal, required for competing in Germany.

2004 Goals: Qualify for and attend the 2004 NAYRC with Poet.


Claire Darnell

Birthday: October 9, 1986

Location: Texas

Trainer: Joan Darnell

Horse: Currently "horseless"

Accomplishments: In 2002 with Trakehner gelding, Solstice, Claire was the number one NAYRC qualifier from Region 9 with a 66.289%. At the USDF/ABIC Region 9 Championships, Claire and Solstice were the PSG Jr/YR Champions, the Fourth Level Jr/YR Champions, and the Fourth Level Freestyle Reserve Champions. They were also sixth in the USDF Prix St. Georges Junior/Young Rider Horse of the Year rankings.

In 2003, Claire was one of the four participants nationwide selected for the Advanced Young Rider European Education and Training Program sponsored by the Dressage Foundation.

Claire is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist.

2004 Goals: Compete her young horse, Carnegie, successfully at several shows throughout the year.
